These pecky cypress blanks are great for hybrid blank casting. The wood was felled over 100 years ago and is sinker cypress that has been recovered from old logging operations that floated the logs for milling. The wood is hand harvested, milled and prepped by Jim Bogden in Northern Florida.
The razor pictured is pecky cypress cast without stabilization with 5 colors to simulate abalone pearl.
They measure approx 3/4" x 5 1/4" but can vary significantly from blank to blank given the nature of the wood. No two blanks will ever be the same. The wood does not need to be stabilized for casting. Given the nature of the wood some blanks may be broken during shipping but this should not be a problem for hybrid casting and is to be expected.
